Welcome

This is my creative blog, things that are happening in my sewing room and other great creative projects, including cooking and the gardens! I do a little bit of everything, so the subjects will vary. Step out of your box, do something creative!

Working on the Lists

I finally worked on my lists of projects for my sewing journal.  It feels really good to have some organization in my working order and to be moving forward on the goal of finishing projects and getting them off the list.

I used my Monday Quilters space to cut fabric, and I got the fabric cut for a quilt that was part of a swap I took part in years ago.  I plan on using this quilt as my "only an hour" project every day.   Set aside a project that I work on for only an hour at a time, until it is done.

I think that I had forgotten how pretty the fabric is.  I have a batik with an overlay in golds, in several different colors.  Ten of the blocks are already done, so I only have 11 more to do.  In the first hour I was able to get a good start on turning the first cut of squares into set of triangles.

Working on an old project that needs finishing for the first hour worked out well today, and I hope that it is a habit that I can keep going.  Spending the next four hours on the project that needs my attention is the next goal.  Focusing on what needs to be done to build up stock for craft fairs and my Etsy site is really important.

I spent way too much time on Pinterest the other day getting ideas.  I've ordered silk scarves and more dyes for fabric and I've got some great ideas for butterfly wings and fairy skirts.  It'll be so much fun working on them over the next few week.

I'm still working on birthday sweaters but I've been able to start the Christmas sewing.  Now that I am back to having goals firmly in mind I think it will make working a lot easier.  I always feel better when I'm working.

Three table runners ready for quilting, one quilt ready to be layered, the front of the sweater is almost done.  While nothing actually got marked off the list this week, I did get a lot done and the progress will help motivate me to work harder next week.
