Welcome

This is my creative blog, things that are happening in my sewing room and other great creative projects, including cooking and the gardens! I do a little bit of everything, so the subjects will vary. Step out of your box, do something creative!

My wallet prototypes came out so nice that I put them on my Etsy site.  They are not perfect, but they were so much fun to make and the colors worked well in each one of them.
In the full size wallet, I had samples from an upholstery book and just picked out colors that I liked together.  The outside is a tighter weave fabric than the insides, but the colors and feel of the designs are similar.

I added a pocket in the bottom half for cash, that my original pattern didn't have.  I used an old fabric wallet that I loved to death as inspiration for this one, and I'm happy with the changes.  There is room for at least four credit cards in this one, and it still folds flat to fit in your purse.

The top half is all pockets for those lose items.  There is a zipper pocket for the things that are to be kept safe, and a pocket under the velcro flap for your lose change.
This last picture shows the outside of the wallet open.  There is a line of stitching across the center to keep everything from sliding, and the wallet itself closes with a tab and velcro.

I'm really happy with these, and I can't wait to get started on more of them, using up more samples and getting them into my gift box or on my Etsy site!

WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH THE THINGS THAT WOULD NORMALLY BE THROWN AWAY?  MAKE DO, USE IT UP OR DO WITHOUT.  MAKE IT STRETCH INTO SOMETHING BRAND NEW.  CREATIVITY AT IT'S BEST!

I am deep into my summer job of making costumes for the Ren faire near us.  I get the peices already cut and just have to sew them together, but of course that leaves little time for any other sewing that I would like to be doing.

I have started a dress and a top for myself, made Ruby a sun dress recently, and started on the traditional sleep pants that I give everyone at Christmas time.  I need to get some things put away for Christmas, I'm behind in my "25 weeks" list, but my summer job ends soon and I should be able to step things up then.

If I can turn out this much during my job, I don't see why I can't do the same thing for etsy and my own sewing, or at least close to it.  Now that I don't have cable, I can't waste my time watching TV at night, and while that has cut down on my knitting time, I am getting a lot of other work done.

After my orders are finished this week, I'll be rewritting my schedule to include more of my items and finding time to get everything done.  The key will be to keep my costume sewing completley finished each week to avoid feeling like I am obligated to sew during the week end on costumes, and devote my week end time to my sewing.

Maybe that way I'll actually get back to my art days as well!  That would be so good for my spirit!
